Black Lily

This weekend I hosted and performed at the 2nd annual Black Lily Film & Music Festival and it was a amazing! Shout to all the women who performed. Amongst them were stand out performances by J. Davey, Bahamadia, Slick & Rose, Lady Bug Mecca, & Liz Wright to name a few. It was really great to be amongst so many dope female artists. We're doing a full take on the event on the next DivaSpeak TV on wednesday. Shout to Tracey Moore and Mercedez Martinez of the JazzyFatNastees and the creators of Black Lily.

Dope show, by the looks of it. Ahem - I think it's pretty clear that even deaf fellas were taken care of there :) It's nice that there are events like Black Lily when females of real talent and drive are represented instead of those who merely market themselves as products.

Also, I second Frank's mention of Burma right now - my grandpa grew up there; these folks are not really in a good position.

You look so amn sexy Amanda........so damn sexy.

Lol ont mean to creep you out, just showing some love - and it's good to see you oing your thing as always: keeping the real music alive and styaing true to you :D

Just to add; Lady Bug Mecca was tight on the Digable Planets albums (one of the most underated groups) - I thought she would be recognized as a fly female MC in todays industry.

Ms Diva,

I'll admit upfront, I used to be one of your haters! I'd see you tv and be like "Um, Whatevs!" (I'm slowly accepting that as a little brown girl, anyone my age on tv with curly hair helped contribute to some form of nappy bitterness that has only even begun to be resolved since brownskinned came back in style, but I digress). I was at the Black Lily Show last weekend and was like "Ohh...Damn!" You're fun, real, rhyme like a grown woman, and really speak for our generation. The black renaissance woman will not be ignored! Keep it up and stop by my blog if you get a chance...
