I have loved Nas for a very long time. He has reigned as my favorite emcee since ’97 and held that post with no wavering since. But I can no longer endorse him. The video below is full of so much ignorance I’m at a loss for words…but I’ll find em by next week’s “DivaSpeakTV” believe that!
UGGH!!!!!!

i really dont wanna became a frequent commenter, but, when Dick Gregory came out with a book called "Nigger", people gave him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was going to be poignant in his in his discourse...one would expect Nas fans to give Nasir that courtesy...
...inspite of his suspiciously inebriated sound/video bite...
nasir jones been Bunz
im no hov fanatic either but Jigga bodied o boy on takeover and business wise
Just call him the "ULTIMATE NIGGER" lol maybe he just likes controversial albums. gives him more attention. he know "NIGGER" is either gonna get um to sell cuz they eager to hear what he got to say. or he'll get a let down, get boycotted by the people and his album will blow for some dumb shit!!! lets wait and see!!! "like i said in my rap boys(and the illest is) remix."first of all i wanna thank hovita, nasir jones,i was listening back then but now im grown,im da duke imma build my own throne" meaning i learned my lessons now its time to let the future shine HA HA HA HA HA(the evil MC J.LOUIE lol)
"ULTIMATE NIGGER" sounds like a playstation game lol
P.S: i luv being a frequent commenter. cuz DIVA all that and a bag of Tortilla chipz wit the DIP!!! HOLLER!!! im behind you until i stop breathing!!! FUCK THE HATERZ!!! MWAAAA (a big wet one they juicier in person)
Diva if you were a true fan you would understand Nas, but you're just reactive. Amanda your fav rap CD probably has nigger mentioned in it many times, but when someone puts it on a shirt y'all are throwing fits? Please, y'all kill me with that hypocrisy. Half of y'all say nigger every day too...so fall back. As for Nas, you are yet to hear the CD so please reserve comment until the album actually comes out.
First of all show me some respect when you address me on my own blog. This WILL NOT be a place where people think they can come talk to me any old way simply because they disagree with my commentary. Secondly I have interviewed Nasir 6 times, am a venerable expert on his music, and have a master’s in African American studies, I am credentialed enough to voice my opinion on this topic. On the other hand, I don’t know who YOU think you are but before you come with such strong statements get it right: My issue is not with Nas’s choice of album title it’s with his lack of true reasoning behind it other than to gain controversy that could perhaps sell records. When he’s telling white women that they are a nigger too, there is something seriously delusional going on. Get off his balls he’s contradicted himself enough to be questioned for such a strong move.
LMAO!!! Get um!!!!!!!!!
LMAO now that im watching it again!!! Nas made no fucking sense lmao!!! oh boi!!!!
im holding off on commenting until i hear the album. i would hate for this to be strictly promo for another snoozer of an album - i would like to think nas has this nigger thing going into, like, a deep album discussing the views and shit on the word, its origins, and just a true statement, as opposed to "hiphop is dead", which was a decent album with a powerful title...
hey amanda
big up...
from an everlasting crushed
i love your smile
D'C
Yeah, i dont really understand where Nas is coming from
Damn! AD, i never thought i'll hear you say to words
"Diva is done with Nas" period but i do feel you.
You, remind me so much of Pac he was like you, never had any fears of speaking on truth, meaning Pac and You are true great powerful artist in the pen and in speech.. from a true Pac Fan for life.

Well, first of all I didn't mean to be disrespectful toy your blog, so I apologize if it came across.
I don't know what you mean by his "lack of reasoning." He just explained it in the video. If you disagree with his reasoning then say so, but don't say he has a lack of reasoning, thats arrogant.
And I'm not on his balls, I'm just calling out reactionaries who are throwing fits before one single has even been released! The intelligent thing to do is listen to the album then make a judgement call.
I'm not sure what to say to this. Nas has been my favorite MC always, but I'm speechless and frankly hurt. He's always touched me with his intelligence and lyrical ability. His songs have made me laugh, cry and get energized.
Now, I just don't know. I was supporting his new album, figuring he had something behind it but this news clip - it seems to me that Mr. Jones is trying to make a statement for controversy's sake.
Say it ain't so. :(
I think Nas was referring to one of the dictionary definitions for the word nigger, in this case an ignorant person. I believe that's where he was coming from when he said it applies to the interviewer as well. Obviously, it's also a racial slur but I get the sense that he's trying to down play that aspect and focus on a broader way of thinking about the word. Now, he may feel like he was to do that in order to make the cd ready for mass consumption. I must admit, a part of me wants him to make an album directly addressing the word and how it's been used towards Black People in this country. However, I'm going to reserve judgment until I hear the music. Hip Hop Is Dead had people up in arms but anyone who listened to the cd could tell that he doesn't really believe that Hip Hop is dead. He was simply making commentary on the state of Hip Hop and reminiscing on how it used to be. The name was shock value but it did the job as far as drawing people in. I believe he's doing the same thing this time around and I just hope the reasoning behind it is at least as poignant. Finally, Nas has never been an eloquent speaker. His ideas are always better conveyed when set to music for some reason. That's another reason why I'm reserving judgment. It seems like there's more than meets the eye with this upcoming album and he may not have been articulate enough in that instance while being interviewed. We shall see.
Marshall
Appart from the obvious , what the hell waas Kelis talking about?
Yeah what the hell is the meaning of this, Nas??...now dont get me wrong, i love me some Nas, but right now, i'm just a lost puppy here...and his wife didnt help matters, what was her point?! too i'm lost.
ugh i dont know bout this, i need to hear the damn album already ..april 22nd, if theres not anoottherrrr push back.
But Diva, what rapper hasnt contradicted themselves. No disrespect, but everybody needs to stop putting these rappers on a pedestool. Every single rapper does foolish and dumb shit at times. Should you be "done with him" because of that? Shit, Prodigy is possibly the dumbest mothafucka alive but Im still copping HNIC 2.
And as far as the album is concerned, he does have alot of reasoning behind it from what I've heard in his other interviews. But yeah, he did contradict himself here but again, every rapper does. West, East, South, Mid West, Backpack, mainstream, in between.
And reading these comments i find it funny that people are so shocked that Nas would do something for controversy. Didn't he do the same thing last year? Your favorite rappers do things that way also. Didn't Jay retire and come back a year later and used his so called retirement to sell records?
People are being a little too reactionary to this.
I love Nas too but he did sound real ignorant in this interview..I'm still gonna check out the album asap once it drops.
