I just had to this post this comment from youtube.com/imamandadiva. homie stated things SO clearly! Gotta love it:

I'ma nigger your a nigger don't you wanna be a nigger too. LOL. Man i was on the fence with this since i heard he was running with that for a project title. But truth be told I'm tired of the justification of the word. White people will never be niggers. They're laughing at him and he don't even know it. It's really bad that it's come to this for him. No matter how you try to dress it up it's ugly . And if the wrong person calls me one they will know how ugly it is.

I agree with the poster from YouTube. It was refreshing, though, to see at the bottom of that video window that Bams was winning by 10 points. Intelligence seems to run in the Seales family - I would think that a living refutation of Mr. Jones' ignorant comments.

I'm waiting on Pt2

My sister says: Ditto - and your mother seems like an amazing person.

do yall read? research? been to class lately?

Qoute-(Congressman Don Rellums in response to John Lennon's song)
"If you define niggers as someone whose livestyle is defined by others, whose oppurtunities are defined by others, whose role in society is defined by others, then good news, you don't half to be black to be a nigger in this society, most of the people in America are Niggers..."

"Whenever you hear the word Nigger, you’ll know they're advertising my book"-Dick Gregory

...if people extended John Lennon and Dick Gregory these courtesies, why can't we...(mind you both Lennon and Gregory made valid points in their works)

when the album drops and if it makes no sense, Nas loses points, big time...

.. but I doubt he will drop the ball, I mean people are acting like it's Chingy releasing an album called Nigger...

read a book Nigga!,
Freddy all day, Nigga when necessary

p.s.
didn't Outkast release a pretty good album with a CONFEDERATE FLAG on the cover?

is that apples and oranges?

Psmith said...

Not that I recall. Stankonia had an American flag on the cover.

peace diva im diggin the new webisode but i disagree on one thing. not only should Black folk get an apology for slavery in amerikkka but we should get one in brazil, peru, dominican republic, puerto rico, mexico, colombia, honduras, cuba, venezuela basically 80 plus percent of western hemisphere nations and after the the apology give the people REPERATIONS cause its not fair that so many nations got fat off of free labor.

and im speechless on nas. it would be nice if nas can shock the world and come with some super deep/powerful lyrics but he just got to stop talkin about his album and let the album speak for itself cause he sounding like an idiot.

much love diva

That's not a disagreement that's an addition to the point i made. And a legit one too. As for Nas Freddy is missing the point. I stated VERY CLEARLY that i was not giving him a let down for his album i was giving him a let down for the spectacle he made at the grammy's using the word "nigger" and his lack of articulation for that spectacle. Keep ya sarcasm Freddy John nor Dick had a team of chicks in rhinestone shirts with Nigger across the front.

i digress to ponder the rap cover i am thinking of...thanks for catching that
*smacks head in humility*

I'll agree that the shirt with the rhinestones was lil' over the top and unnecessary...but we gotta recognize the point he was making when he said "you and me are niggers." He's not saying "white people it's ok to say nigger." He's saying, to all those who are disenfranchised by this rich white male dominated society, you are a part of the class that is has no power. Your struggle is not separate from that of black people. This is how Middle Easteners get the name "sand-nigger." That word signifies their station here in America, being codified by the addition of the word 'sand' to describe them as different from the 'regular' niggers. Yes, the word was created explicitly to refer to black people, but the message that's being missed is that you don't have to be black to be treated like a nigger. If you don't fit into the grand scheme, into the white supremacist capitalist power structure, by way of your sex, class, race, sexual preference, coutnry of origin, language, style of dress, etc. then you are no different than the rest of us who don't. It's not saying either that the struggles and concerns aren't unique, because the trials of a black man do differ from a white woman's, but the essential factors of discrimination, disenfranchisement, disrespect, degradation, and the like are still relevant.

But Nas isn't the most articulate dude there is...

Nas has lost his mind...and his "nigger" campaign makes as much sense as the noose that Kat Williams wore around his neck on the red carpet for Jena6. I tell you...our people mean well, but we really have to think about the consequences of our actions.

On a brighter note...You and your mother are fabulous. Big up to West Indians everywhere!

Freddy there's many but an album you could be thinking of is Lil Jon's "Put Yo Hood Up" where he as a confederate flag around his shoulders. I love me some Jon but that was NOT the move.

freddy said...

Ms. Diva I'm kinda responding to everyone's sentiments, not just yours...

...but to be DONE with him for just this non-savory action? I'd be done with hiphop if I was that sensative to spectacle...

let me iterate that I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND people's feelings about his grammy stunt, but convictious opinion without conversive understaning is obstinate...

To Everyone helping Nas' publicity,
Frddy

good lookin out diva. i wanted to write something else and i forgot to to erase "i disagree".

i may be off topic but if you're a BLACK artist and you have the u.s. flag on your cover isn't that just as bad as having the confederate flag on it too?

For what it's work, new Nas track sounds pretty dope - I guess we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.

I don't know whether to be angrier at Nas for being stupid like that or at people for sleeping on one of the greatest MCs of all time to the extent that he is tempted to resort to such tactics.
